Buck Vanguard Outdoor Knife:
This knife impressed us immediately with its handy design, compact yet sturdy, and beautifully made - a real all-round knife. The Buck "Vanguard" comes in two versions. Both feature the perfectly fashioned brass trim and the attractively grained Cocobolo wood handle, or alternatively the extremely grippy handle made of Kraton. The wide finger guard makes for safe handling. The hollow-ground drop point blade, manufactured from corrosion-resistant, high-performance 420 HC steel is up to any challenge. This knife comes with a brown leather sheath or, in the case of the Kraton handle, with a black Cordura sheath.

420 HC steel:
Buck's standard blade material because it combines the wear resistance of a high-strength carbon steel with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Add to this the special Buck heat treatment process and you have an extremely user-friendly combination of edge retention, and excellent corrosion resistance plus high strength and durability. It also means that the blade is very easy to resharpen. A Rockwell hardness of 58 Rc is achieved.
