Louis Cafe Racer Tail Section Type 04:
Classic and vintage bike lovers are not the only ones to have rediscovered the slim, old-school, elegantly dynamic cafe racer look! In fact, customisers, backyard bike builders and even fighter fans have been won over to. Apart from the low-profile front end, the other key feature of the cafe racer style is the rounded solo tail section in 1960s style.
Whether you're aiming to faithfully restore a vintage bike as a racer, or give a modern bike the vintage touch that's all the rage, we can offer you a whole range of solo tail sections in a variety of shapes. They are all made from GRP mats, hand-laminated, with a smooth gel finish, and very accurately sized. Seat pads are available separately and can be secured to the tail section with hook-and-loop fasteners, for example. Hardcore bikers glue a foam rubber pad directly to the seat. Attachment to the frame requires a bike-specific solution. Choose the cafe racer tail section to suit your motorbike's rear frame and tank shape. You'll find exact dimensions for the different versions in the product illustrations! The tail section is supplied naked, without fittings or seat pad.
Entry in vehicle documents:
The cafe racer tail sections are supplied without component approval for entry in the vehicle documents, so it's essential to discuss the approval procedure with your local vehicle safety inspectorate (TÜV or Dekra in Germany) before you start your conversion project. If you intend to shorten or modify your rear frame, also be sure to discuss this with the vehicle inspector. As a rule, modification from two seats to only one needs to be entered in the vehicle documents.
Seat pad:
If you want to fit a conventional real or faux leather seat to the tail section, you can use the seat pad as a base (see "Compatible products") to ensure that you can attach the tail to the motorbike frame bolts that are always accessible. If you plan to upholster the seat yourself, you can use the composite foam Order no.10008653 and covering material 10008632 /10008650 from our range.
Paintwork:
The tail section comes gel coated but unpaintet and can be finished with any standard vehicle paint.
