If the performance of a petrol (gasoline) engine drops for no apparent reason, then taking a compression measurement on the individual cylinders should help you to track down the problem. The Rothewald 3-in-1 Compression Tester is ideal for this job. It allows you to do both "dry" and "wet" (with the addition of oil) pressure tests on the cylinders.

The target is for the readings to comply with the manufacturer's specifications. Normally the individual pressure readings should not vary by more than 10% between cylinders or from the engine manufacturer's specifications.
